The Handle with Care coalition is a WSPA-led global alliance of animal welfare organisations who share a common aim to end the long distance transport of animals for slaughter.
A new report, Beyond Cruelty. Beyond Reason. Long Distance Transport and Welfare of Farm Animals (2008), highlights Australia as a world leader in the cruel live export trade of animals for slaughter. Each year, tens of thousands of sheep die or are seriously injured en route to the Middle East. Over 40,000 Australian ship alone die each year, that’s one animal every 12 minutes.
Our Aims
- To launch the Australian leg of the Handle with Care campaign
- To assist WPSA in the organisation of a press conference to launch Beyond Cruelty. Beyond Reason. Long Distance Transport and Welfare of Farm Animals (2008)
- To publicise the launch of the Handle with Care Campaign across national publications
- To assist WSPA in publicising the coalition’s objective to stop long distance transport of animals for slaughter

To help animals in need worldwide you need positive media and plenty of it, as it’s the most powerful way to get animal welfare ‘front of mind’ for governments, industry and the public. WordStorm has been an integral part of this process, working alongside WSPA to successfully promote our campaign activity and, in turn, helping to create a world where animals matter and animal cruelty ends.
