Media Training

When dealing with the media, you only get one chance to make a great first impression. WordStorm’s one-day Media Communications Training Workshop is a hands-on course for organisations that are serious about presenting a positive image during media interviews.

The workshops are conducted by WordStorm’s Managing Director and former ACA journalist Monica Rosenfeld and Valerie Khoo, freelance writer and founder of Sydney Writers’ Centre.

Our one-day Media Communications Training workshop will:

  • give you confidence in dealing with all media including print, radio, television and online
  • help you realise what the media really wants—and how to give it to them
  • provide you with practical tips for conducting effective interviews
  • give you a firm understanding of a journalist's agenda
  • teach you how to respond to difficult questions
  • give you tips on how to cultivate ongoing relationships with the media

How is the workshop structured?

The media is a diverse environment, and it is important to understand that each media outlet requires a different approach. The workshop is an interactive experience that shows you how to deal with print, radio, TV and online journalists.

Apart from teaching you the rules for dealing with members of the media, the workshop also gives you the opportunity to role play. You’ll be interviewed by a real journalist under various interview scenarios. This is invaluable for fine-tuning your skills so you’ll be comfortable when in real-life interview situations.

Who are the workshop presenters?

  • Monica Rosenfeld is the founder of WordStorm PR and has worked with a wide variety of clients over the past ten years, including Dilmah Tea, Just Cuts, Muffin Break, Jamaica Blue and Triumph International.
