Georgina Morris – Public Relations Consultant
1. How did you get in to PR?
While majoring in PR and Italian language and culture at uni I gained experience managing publicity campaigns and events for organizations such as Amnesty International Australia. After finishing my degrees I approached a funky PR agency I’d been hearing a lot about - I’ve been working on a range of campaigns here ever since.
2. What do you love most about the job?
I love the variety of people I get to meet working in PR, hearing their stories and learning about their passions. I’m always learning something new from my clients and love telling everyone about it.
3. Who do you think desperately needs PR, and why?
In Australia - Smart Cars. They’re huge in Europe, but in a land famed for its open plains and with a long love affair with BIG things, they aren’t exactly a craze over here yet. However if you you’re out and about in the inner city, you have to admit they make a lot more sense than the SUVs in style on the city streets.
4. What do you have in your desk drawer?
I like to think my drawers are in a state of controlled chaos, they’re filled with CDs of high res images, an assortment of business cards, stationary, and the odd bottle of hand cream or lip balm (and perhaps a sneaky milky way or two, although you’ll often only find the wrapper)
5. What do you do when you're not working?
Dinner and drinks with friends or family, walking and reading.
6. Are you a summer person or a Winter person?
I really can’t choose, there’s something to be said for both a day spent lying on the beach with a good book and a lazy day spent curled up under the doona with a good book and hot chocolate.
7. If you were a superhero, what would be your name and super power?
I only get one super power?! I would love to be able to fly though, a nice classic cartoon superpower. However, I have a terrible sense of direction (perhaps www.gogo-plus.com.au will customize a personal flying sat nav device for me…)
