Dominique Tomarchio
How did you get in to PR?
I first decided to get into PR when I was working part-time whilst still in school and an older co-worker was studying and working in communications. Her job intrigued me to the point that I made PR the focus of my year 11 and 12 subject selection process. Once graduating from high-school I studied a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communications at UTS and completed an internship at a PR agency, solidifying my love for the industry.

What do you love most about the job?
I love being able to achieve results for clients and also have the ability to spread great news about their products or service. It’s especially rewarding when a client has never used PR before in their marketing mix and by the end of the campaign they’re able to gain a better understanding of what PR is and how it benefits their business.

Who do you think desperately needs PR, and why?
I’d say a lot of companies are in need of PR. Companies with a niche product or service should definitely engage in PR, even if they’re only starting out or are relatively small.

What do you have in your desk drawer?
I’m a little boring unfortunately – business cards, safety clips, bluetack and chocolate (of course).

What do you do when you're not working?
Spend time with family and friends, enjoy good food and try to fit a bit of shopping in!

What’s the best thing about summer?
Summer dresses, the beach and daylight savings.
