What is PR?

The Public Relations Institute of Australia describes public relations as “the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies and procedures of an individual or an organisation with the public interest, and plans and executes a programme of action to earn public understanding and acceptance.”   *Source – www.pria.com.au

What is the difference between editorial and advertising?

Public relations specialists communicate with the media in order to secure free editorial on behalf of their clients. With advertising, clients pay for specific space.

How do you evaluate the effectiveness of PR?

Depending on the objectives of the campaign, WordStorm creates a number of ways in which the campaign can be evaluated eg number of unique visits to a website. In addition, WordStorm compiles a campaign summary report which outlines the strengths and weaknesses of the campaign, analysis of the media achieved, the number of people reached and the Equivalent Advertising Value (EAV). This figure (EAV) is established by researching what the equivalent advertising rates would have been had the client placed an advertisement in the media outlets where editorial coverage was secured.

How long is a PR campaign?

This depends on the individual client and their objectives. The optimal scenario is for the relationship to be an ongoing one as PR is a momentum building exercise. However WordStorm can work on short projects or ongoing retainer campaigns.

How much does it cost?

This depends on the individual client and their objectives. It also depends on the length of the campaign and whether it is a one off project or an ongoing monthly relationship. For a quote please contact Monica on (02) 8272 3200.

How can PR help my brand?

Public Relations is very important in terms of exposing your brand to its target markets. Media relations can build a brand’s credibility by third party endorsements. The primary objective for public relations is to build brand awareness which in turn can lead to increased sales.

When will I see my brand in the media?

This is different for each campaign and depends on timing, the target publics, targeted media and newsworthiness. WordStorm PR’s aim to garner as much media coverage as soon as possible but lead times for all media outlets must be taken into consideration.
