When Australian boxer Mick Akkway was tragically taken from the ring after a car accident in 1999, he channelled his energy into another aspect of the industry by creating sports streetwear label, Prizefighter. More than just a clothing label, Prizefighter stands for beating adversity and never takes no for an answer, with a core brand message to: dream, believe, achieve. Prizefighter engaged WordStorm PR to assist with its launch into Myer, its flagship store opening and to build awareness of the Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Our Success

WordStorm worked with Prizefighter to facilitate a media-only fashion show, showcasing new items in the Spring-Summer collection. In addition, a consumer event at selected Myer stores saw attendees interacting with Prizefighter ambassadors Parramatta Eels. Resulting editorial coverage was extensive, with sales increasing drastically.
